Description

Magnesium hydroxide is a non-toxic, high efficient, smoke suppression and environmental-friendly flame retardant. Its max processing temperature can be 300℃. Magnesium hydroxide can be used to produce roofing membranes based on TPO, EPDM or bitumen respectively.

Flame-retardant mechanism of Magnesium hydroxide for Roofing Membranes Based on TPO, EPDM or Bitumen

1. Decomposition of magnesium hydroxide absorbs heat, which is beneficial to reduce the flame combustion temperature.
2. The decomposition of magnesium hydroxide creates water. It’s not only the coolant but also can lower the smoke density.
3. The decomposition of magnesium hydroxide creates MgO which can absorb smoke and cover the combustible material for its big specific surface.
